What does it mean to be a Christian?
The Bible teaches that you must know, believe, and receive these truths to become a child of God.
1. You must know that you have sinned against God. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” - Romans 3:23
2. You must know the Bible leaves no question that sin leads to death and hell. “The wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23. In the verse, death implies two concepts: physical death and eternal punishment - Revelation 20:11-15
3. You must know God loves you and gave his Son, Jesus Christ, to die as the substitute payment for your sin.
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” - Romans 5:8.
4. You must believe Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead, and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as you personal Savior.
“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” John 1:12. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not on the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” - John 3:36
You can settle the matter right now. Lift up your heart to God in prayer, and call upon Him!
